Illinois State Taekwondo Championship Qualified Athletes for US Junior Olympics and US Senior Nationals.

On Sunday March 29, 2009, the Illinois Taekwondo State Association hosted the Illinois State Championships.

President of the ITSA, Master Luciano Medina, said he was pleased with the outcome and that “it was a great success.”  All first place winners qualified to compete  in the 2009 Junior Olympics and Senior Nationals being held in Austin, Texas from June 30th - July 5th.

The Illinois Team is becoming one of the strongest teams in the Nation.   From attending high level training in Mexico with the Mexican Junior National Team, to traveling to Eindhoven, Netherlands for the Dutch Open, Illinois athletes’ are getting a taste of high level success.  And this is just the beginning,  ITSA President Master Luciano Medina states that there are plans in motion for the Illinois Team this year.

History was made when Master Luciano Medina became the first Latino President of a State Association.   Being one of the most successful coaches, he attributes most of his success to his dedication and love of the sport.
